Sony Award-winning comedy duo Adam and Joe are set to make their much anticipated return to the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ 6 Music airwaves at the beginning of April 2011.
They return to their Saturday morning slot (10am-1pm) after an extended sabbatical which saw Joe Cornish make his film directorial debut with the soon to be released Attack The Block and Adam Buxton present the award winning Adam's Big Mixtape for 6 Music as well as continuing to perform live comedy and host the BFI's highly successful bi-monthly music video showcase BUG.
Both are excited to be back at, what they call, the Big British Castle. Adam Buxton says: "I can't wait to get back to our show on Saturdays, I've really missed doing it. Not that I haven't been every bit as busy as Joe. I've created several new filing systems for my CDs and DVDs, successfully reunited over 20 odd socks with their partners and learned to understand the language of ants (though I'm finding Dec's more of a problem). It's been fun but I'm looking forward to talking rubbish and playing brilliant music with Joe again."
Bob Shennan, Controller Radio 2 & 6 Music, says: "I know listeners have been missing Adam and Joe's warm and witty banter from their Saturday mornings so I'm enormously pleased to welcome back their Sony Award-winning show to the network."
Adam and Joe return initially for a 12-week run. Further series will be announced in due course.
Adam and Joe first broadcast on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 6 Music in 2007. There show has garnered a string of awards including the Broadcasting Press Guild award for Radio Programme of the Year 2008, Sony Silver Award in the best Comedy, Entertainment and Competition categories in 2009 and a Sony Gold Award for Best Comedy Show in 2010. The pair have not only broadcast in their usual Saturday morning slot but also presented the show from festivals including Glastonbury and Camden Crawl.
