³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing acts to showcase on Radio 2

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 2 will showcase two ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing bands as part of the network's live music programme, Radio 2 In Concert, when it visits Scotland next week. Hosted by Jo Whiley, Scottish rising stars Aerials Up and Admiral Fallow will support Paolo Nutini when he returns home to perform an exclusive concert for Radio 2, at Paisley Town Hall on Tuesday 17 August.

Claire Thomas, Executive Producer, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing, says: "It's great to be working with Radio 2 to give these two new artists such an amazing opportunity. Both artists played on the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing stage at T in the Park this year and to be able to continue to support them in this way across the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ is what ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing is all about."

Jeff Smith, Head of Music, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 2 and 6 Music, adds: "Radio 2 In Concert is looking forward to being in Scotland for Paolo's 'homecoming' show. We're really pleased that this will also provide concert goers and those listening at home with the added experience of hearing these two up and coming Scottish artists."

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing is a multi-platform initiative across ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 1, 6 Music, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 1Xtra, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Asian Network, Switch, over 35 ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Local Radio stations and at bbc.co.uk/introducing – all working together to provide an internal network dedicated to showcasing the hottest new talent from across the UK.

By extending its reach to Radio 2, the initiative is able to offer new platforms for under-the-radar talent.

Radio 2 In Concert will be broadcast on Radio 2 on Thursday 19 August between 8-10pm and will feature Paolo's performance, a track from each of the Introducing bands and interviews with Jo Whiley.

Admiral Fallow formed in 2007 and mix the usual indie line-up with additions from the clarinet, flute, double bass and additional vocals. The six-piece outfit released their debut single, These Barren Years, in March 2009 and were crowned the Scotsman's Under The Radar band of 2009.

Louis Abbott, vocalist with Admiral Fallow, says: "³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing has given us massive support of late and we're very glad to be working with them again.

"It's an amazing thing that a little band like us can be given an opportunity to play with someone as widely respected as Paolo Nutini – it's going to be a great night."

Aerials Up have only been together for a year and are already no strangers to big crowds. Their music is a fusion between folk and rock and their songs combine glorious intertwining violin/guitar parts, alongside multi-part vocal harmonies and a solid rhythm section. They recently supported Snow Patrol at their 25,000-capacity gig in Glasgow.

An exclusive concert for Radio 2, Paolo's Nutini's set will feature classic tracks from his hit albums, These Streets and Sunny Side Up. The event will be a fabulous celebration of musical talent in Scotland, both established and new, and is not one to be missed.

Notes to Editors

Radio 2 In Concert is Radio 2's weekly live music show. It features a headline concert specially recorded for the network – both new and from the archive – a gig guide, a round-up of the week's live music offering on Radio 2 and classic live album tracks.

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing is a multi-platform initiative, dedicated to nurturing and showcasing new and under-the-radar talent.

Having launched at Glastonbury in 2007, the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing Stage is now present at key UK music festivals throughout the year, including Glastonbury, T In The Park and Reading and Leeds.

Musicians can upload their music at bbc.co.uk/introducing for the possible opportunity of being broadcast on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio, which could lead to a slot on one of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing stages. By supporting new music, over 500 bands have been showcased on a ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing festival stage since it began.

The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Introducing website also offers a hub of practical advice and information for new artists wanting to take the next step in the industry, including over 100 videos featuring established and upcoming artists, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ talent, industry experts including agents and managers, publishers and promoters.
