Clevedon teenager wins ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Bristol brekkie for his dad

The first of five lucky ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Bristol listeners got their chance to grill breakfast presenter Steve le Fevre as well as their bacon and tomatoes this week, as part of a station competition.

Fifteen-year-old Max Bennett and his dad, Billy, joined the last part of Steve's show on Thursday morning (15 April) before being whisked off for a slap-up breakfast with the presenter at Bristol's Bordeaux Quay restaurant.

Knowing Billy is a regular listener to breakfast on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Bristol, Max secretly entered the competition to say why they would want to have breakfast with Steve, submitting a short verse about his dad. Billy only heard what his son had been up to when he got the call to say they'd won.

Said Max: "I know my dad likes to go on the radio and he chats a lot. So when I heard about the competition I thought I'd enter for him. It's been a really interesting time, seeing how a radio show works, how it is all put together. I didn't think being a radio presenter was so hard. It's all a bit crazy.

"We then had a nice breakfast with Steve. He's really nice. We could have sat with him for ages and just chatted and chatted."

Billy added: "I think Max enjoyed it as much as me! He's such a brilliant lad. I couldn't believe it when I heard he's entered and we'd be coming in to ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Bristol. It was great to meet Steve. I'm a regular listener and am always calling up so it was nice to put a face to the name or the voice!

"He's really friendly and was interested in where we come from and what goes on. We had a great giggle."

Max Bennett's entry was spot-on the competition's 100word limit: "All year round, every day, my dad, Billy Bennett, from Clevedon, is up before us all. In winter, he is like a warm crackling fire, in spring he is like the Dawn Chorus. In summer, he is like the sunshine beating down and in autumn he is like a firework lighting up the sky.

"Not only would he like to share his early morning joy with Steve over breakfast, as he often answers the radio back, anyway, but a treat for him might earn a lie-in for me as I am after all a teenager and need my sleep."

Said Steve: "It was brilliant to meet Billy and his son Max who listens to ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Bristol as much as his Dad does. They both regularly phone in to contribute to programmes on the station. It was great for me and them to be able to put faces to names.

"Always brilliant to hear from all our listeners on the show, but even better to meet people like Billy and his son Max for a chat over bacon and eggs down at the Harbour side."

Another lucky ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Bristol listener will be having their breakfast with Steve next week.

Steve le Fevre presents the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Bristol Breakfast Show, weekdays from 6-9am on 94.9, 103.6 & 104.6FM, 1548AM and DAB.
