Star-studded line-up announced for ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Live 2009

  • The Black Eyed Peas, The Saturdays, JLS, N-Dubz, Alexandra Burke, Pixie Lott and Shaheen Jafargholi confirmed to perform at the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's flagship teen event
  • ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Live, hosted by Kimberley Walsh and Nick Grimshaw, will be broadcast on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 1, with major interactive content on bbc.co.uk/switch
  • ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Live will feature awards for the best in British talent, voted for by Switch viewers and listeners

The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's multi-platform teen brand ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch has secured performances from some of the biggest music stars in the teen world for ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Live 2009, which takes place on Sunday 8 November at the Hammersmith Apollo in London.

Black Eyed Peas, The Saturdays, JLS, N-Dubz, Pixie Lott, Alexandra Burke and Shaheen Jafargholi will perform in front of over 4,000 14 to 17-year-olds at the event, which is now in its second year.

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Live has secured Kimberley Walsh from Girls Aloud to co-host alongside ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw.

Kimberley Walsh said: "I am really looking forward to be co-hosting the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Live event with Nick Grimshaw. The line-up looks amazing – it's going to be a great day."

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Live on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One (transmission: Sunday 15 November) will be presented by Kimberley and Nick, with additional backstage reports and celebrity interviews from Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac and The 5:19 Show presenters Tom Deacon and AJ Odudu.

This year ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Live will also celebrate the best in British talent from the past year with the first ever Switch Live Awards, voted for by Switch's teen audience. The awards will be announced and handed out during the event.

Categories include: Switch's Stylish Human; Switch's Sporting Hero; Switch's Outstanding Artist and Switch's Prom Queen, nominees for which were put forward by Switch listeners and visitors to the website.

Voting is open until 25 October at bbc.co.uk/switch.

The ninth award is the Teen Hero Award, which celebrates inspirational teenagers in the UK.

Nominees have been suggested by The Surgery, on Radio 1, listeners and ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Slink readers.

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Live is a massive multi-platform event for the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ across television, radio and online.

As well as broadcasting on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One and on the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ HD Channel, highlights of the event, including live music and backstage interviews, will air in a five-hour ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Live special on Radio 1 with Annie Mac, Nick Grimshaw and Aled Haydn-Jones from 7.00pm on Sunday 8 November.

There will also be major interactive presence online at bbc.co.uk/switch where many live performances will be available to watch on demand. The site will also offer artist pages, video diaries, backstage fun, information for parents, photo galleries, artist interviews and much more.

Next Sunday, 18 October, Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw will announce how listeners can get hold of tickets live on Radio 1's Switch show.

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Live 2008 saw Miley Cyrus, Ne-Yo, McFly, Fall Out Boy and N-Dubz performing live in front of 4,500 14 to 17-year-olds.
