World Gymnastic Championships live on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Television has live and exclusive coverage of the finals of the World Gymnastic Championships across ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Two and the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Red Button, from 15 to 18 October.

The championships are being held in London for the first time at the O2 Arena, the same venue which will hold the gymnastics at the 2012 Olympics.

Outstanding performances from the best gymnasts in the world are expected and will give a strong indication of which world-class gymnasts will be defending their positions in 2012, and who will be the rising stars to challenge them.

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Director of Sport, Barbara Slater, says: "The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ is delighted to be able to broadcast one of the first London Olympic build-up events, with over 11 hours of World Championship coverage on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Two and the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ iPlayer as the world's best gymnasts compete for the medals."

Hopes for home success centre on Louis Smith, who made Olympic history in Beijing 2008 when he became the first British gymnast to win an individual medal at the Olympic Games for 100 years (since Walter Tysell's silver medal in 1908) when he took bronze in the Pommel Horse Final.

Pommel Horse Final: 1.00-5.00pm, Saturday 17 October, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One and ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Two.

Beth Tweddle, World Champion on the Uneven Bars in 2006, will also be hoping to finish on the podium having narrowly missed a medal in Beijing, finishing in fourth place.

Uneven Bars Final: 1.00-5.00pm, Saturday 17 October, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One and ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Two.

Also competing will be Daniel Keatings, who turned into the star of the 2008 Junior European Championships in Lausanne, Switzerland (four Gold medals, including victory in the All-round) and took the 20th place in the Senior All-Round event in Beijing 2008.

Becky Downie will be looking to improve further on her performance in Beijing where she finished the Women's All-Round Final in a record 12th place, following a tiebreak with the 2006 World Champion Vanessa Ferarri (ITA).

Gabby Logan, former Welsh international gymnast and ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Sport presenter for the Beijing Olympic Games, presents.

Gabby is joined by the commentary team of Matt Baker, who presented and commentated on the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's coverage of the gymnastics events at the 2008 Olympic Games, Mitch Fenner and Christine Still.

Craig Heap, retired British Commonwealth Games Gold medal winning gymnast, reports.
