³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch is taking to the road this August for the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Road Trip.
From Sunday 2 to Friday 7 August Switch DJs Annie Mac, Nick Grimshaw and Aled Haydn Jones will be travelling around the UK, appearing at some great under-18s club nights, and getting exclusive access to some of teens' favourite artists and a behind-the-scenes visit to one of the country's most-loved soaps.
The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch Road Trip takes in venues and events in London (Underage Festival), Cookstown, Northern Ireland, Glasgow and Southampton, and is a great opportunity for ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch to get out and about and meet its UK teen audience.
Throughout the week there will be live inserts into Jo Whiley's ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 1 show (Monday-Friday, 10.00am-12.45pm).
Nick Grimshaw's evening show (Monday-Thursday, 10.00pm-12midnight) will also feature news from the trip.
Listeners can also follow the Road Trip online at bbc.co.uk/switch with all the photos and videos from the tour.
Nick Grimshaw says: "Last year's Switch Tour was immense – this year we're going even bigger with a Road Trip! I can't wait to spend a week on the road with Annie Mac and Aled... and so excited about visiting the set of a TV soap."
Annie Mac says: "This is my first Switch Road Trip – I'm really excited about going out on the road with Grimmy and Aled and meeting all the loyal Switch listeners, and I'm looking forward to playing some great party tunes at under-18 events."
Aled says of his first Switch Road Trip: "I can't wait for the Road Trip, getting out and about with Annie and Nick and meeting a lot of our listeners is always fun.
"I'm especially looking forward to taking The Surgery to Glasgow on such an important day for Scottish teens. It's going to be great actually being able to meet the people who we're going to help rather than just talking to them on the phone on air!"
The Road Trip launches on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch on Sunday 2 August (Radio 1, 7.00-10.00pm). Nick Grimshaw will be joined by rising UK urban star Tinchy Stryder who will come to the Radio 1 studio straight from performing at London's Underage Festival in Victoria Park to tell Grimmy all the gossip and news from this huge teen event.
On Monday 3 August Grimmy will be on the set at one of the nation's favourite TV soap operas chatting to some of the cast members, checking out behind the scenes and getting the lowdown.
Then on Tuesday 4 August, Annie Mac is reunited with Nick Grimshaw, as she returns from Radio 1 in Ibiza. Together they will descend on u18 night Club d:tv, at the Glenavon Hotel in Cookstown, to meet the young listeners of Northern Ireland for an amazing foam party along with a live PA from Cascada.
Wednesday 5 August is the date the Scottish Standards and Highers results come out and for this the Switch Road Trip will be at the ABC in Glasgow.
First The Surgery and Aled join the Road Trip on this exciting yet tense and emotional day for Scotland's youngsters, providing a host of experts available for young people to drop in and talk to about exams and careers. Doors open at 10.00am.
Then from 6.30pm the ABC hosts u18 night NRG and ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch will be there in the middle of all the action. Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw will be joined by chart topper Calvin Harris.
On Thursday 6 August ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Switch has an invitation to the N-Dubz studio in Surrey. Annie and Nick will be hanging with the group and getting to hear some exclusive music from their unreleased new album.
The Road Trip finishes in Southampton on Friday 7 August with Annie, Nick and Aled taking to the decks at Oceana UK Club Culture's u18 event.
