³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Cymru Wales has appointed Geoff Williams as its Head of Sport.

The former Senior Producer of Wales Today and Editor of Radio Wales News, Geoff has been Acting Head of Sport since Nigel Walker was promoted to Head of Change and Internal Communications in December 2008.

Every year ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Wales Sport produces more than 200 hours of TV, 1,000 hours of radio output and round-the-clock new media content.

Menna Richards, Director of ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Cymru Wales, said: "I believe that our sports coverage goes to the very heart of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's public mission in Wales and delivers very significant value to licence fee payers.

"High quality provision is absolutely central to the fulfilment of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's public purposes and it's rightly what audiences demand and expect from us.

"Geoff's experience, knowledge and expertise will ensure that ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Cymru Wales continues to deliver first-class sport coverage from Wales."

Geoff Williams was educated at Haverfordwest Grammar School.

Before joining the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ he was a general reporter with the Western Telegraph and then the South Wales Echo.
