The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ announced today, Tuesday 17 February, that Cath Hearne becomes the new Head of Regional and Local Programmes (HRLP) for the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ in the West Midlands.

Cath, who has a wealth of experience with the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ in network and local programming, moves across from a similar role for East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, based in Hull, where she was HRLP from January 2007.

Cath's new position sees her taking overall responsibility for regional output, including Midlands Today, Inside Out, The Politics Show as well as ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ local radio stations.

Preceding her role in Hull, Cath ran the TV operation at ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ London for three-and-a-half years. She was Editor when London won the 2012 Olympics bid and on 7/7, when suicide bombers attacked the capital.

Previously Cath was a TV Director in Newcastle and worked on launches of ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Breakfast and the Ten O'clock News. Cath was Development Producer on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ English Regions' current affairs series, Inside Out and The Politics Show.

When Cath first left University she trained as a teacher and was in the classroom for ten years before making a career change in 1992.

Cath says: "I'm delighted to have been appointed to this role – it's a big job based in England's second city and I’m really looking forward to working with this team which has a fantastic reputation."

Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne, Cath begins her new role Monday 23 February.

She takes over from David Holdsworth, who was recently promoted to Controller, English Regions.
