Country Tracks, a brand new series for ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One, commissioned by Liam Keelan, Controller of ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Daytime, takes a journey through the archive of its sister programme Countryfile in a celebration of the countryside today.
The series will not only share Countryfile's classic moments but also discovers the best places to visit right now and shows how to really enjoy the great outdoors.
Presenter Ben Fogle (Countryfile, Animal Park) delves into classic archive Countryfile footage from the last 20 years which determines the route of the journey bringing past and present together.
Each week Ben visits different parts of the British Isles and each leg of the journey is influenced by the chosen archive footage. Bringing the past and present together means each destination is fully explored.
Country Tracks travels through some of Britain's most dramatic and colourful scenery, weaving together the very best of Countryfile archive with brand new footage, to create compelling stories and a fascinating journey around rural Britain.
It brings past stories and countryside issues up to date, looking at how Britain's countryside is changing and talking to the people shaping its future.
Each week follows a different journey on different modes of transport; from walking and hiking to climbing and white water rafting.
It gives a unique glimpse into rural life – what's new, what's old and what's surprising. From camel trekking on the Lizard Peninsular to wild water swimming in the River Cam, from seafood trails in Glencoe to scenic walks on the Isle of Wight.
Ben Fogle says: "I'm thrilled to be presenting Country Tracks. It means I can spend time outside in our beautiful country revisiting some of the best parts found by Countryfile.
"I'll be walking, sailing, climbing, white water rafting and scrambling my way around the UK to rediscover the very best bits of our countryside and highlight the best places that anyone and everyone can visit."
The Executive Producers are Gerard Melling and Helen Foulkes.
Liam Keelan adds: "I'm delighted that Country Tracks will be able to serve a loyal Countryfile audience in the same time slot for ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Daytime.
"Being a sister show keeps the history and classic elements of Countryfile but Country Tracks takes the journey one step further and will hopefully attract an even broader audience to rural affairs and the UK countryside."
Country Tracks is a ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Birmingham production for ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One.
