Inside Out returns to 成人快手 One South with bad teeth and butterflies
|
Inside Out returns to 成人快手 One South on Wednesday 17 September at 7.30pm with more topical and relevant stories from across the South of England.
听
In the first programme of this new series Joe Crowley hits the streets of Portsmouth with Reading dentist Imran Azam to gauge the state of the nation's teeth.
听
With Portsmouth in the bottom 10% of most deprived areas in the country the team visits the Charles Dickens electoral ward, offering dental advice for free and uncovering some shocking lapses in dental care.
听
During a visit to a local primary school Joe and Imran meet pupils who, although only six-years-old, have had to have most of their milk teeth removed because of decay.
听
We also follow pensioner Elizabeth Green, who removed two teeth herself, as she challenges the Chief Dentist about the cost of dental care.
听
The programme also sees the first of five special reports looking at our native butterflies.
听
Matthew Oates, the country's foremost butterfly expert, goes on the trail of the glorious Purple Emperor at Alice Holt Woods near Farnham, Hampshire.
听
The reports, which will also be presented by former Inside Out regular Chris Packham, mark the 40th anniversary of Dorset-based organisation Butterfly Conservation.
听
Consecutive items will look at the Adonis Blue Butterfly on the Isle of Wight, how conservation is helping Woodland butterfly species, work to encourage the Chalk Hill Blue in Winchester, and why the Small Tortoiseshell is in decline.
