Notes to Editors
Ìý
The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 3 Lunchtime Concerts were established at Wigmore Hall in 1998 by Adam Gatehouse (Radio 3 Editor, Live Music). The series celebrates its 10th Anniversary this season, and over these 10 years the artist roll call is impressive: Lorraine Hunt Lieberson sang in the first season. Alfredo Perl, Céclile Ousset, Barbara Bonney and Emmanuel Ax all featured in early seasons. Others made their Wigmore debuts, including Dorothea Röschmann and Joyce DiDonato. In 1999 Radio 3 launched the New Generation Artists scheme, and the calibre of the young artists was such that they were soon integrated into the lunchtime programme.
Ìý
The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 3 New Generation Artists scheme offers young artists and groups unique opportunities to develop their considerable talents. The Radio 3 Lunchtime Concerts are a key platform for these stars of the future. New Generation Artists appearing at Wigmore Hall this season are violist Maxim Rysanov, soprano Elizabeth Watts, tenor Allan Clayton, mezzo-soprano Daniela Lehner, the Pavel Haas Quartet and pianists Ingrid Fliter and Shai Wosner.
