You're not Nancy! – Francesca's dream is over
Francesca's dream is over as she becomes the fourth contestant to be eliminated from
³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ One's I'd Do Anything.
Ìý
After a public vote Francesca and Ashley were the least popular Nancy's and Andrew Lloyd Webber decided to save Ashley. So Francesca is the fourth Nancy to leave the competition.
Ìý
In Saturday's live show, all nine remaining Nancy finalists performed solo renditions of contemporary songs chosen to show viewers that they have the skill and sheer charisma to carry one of the most challenging roles in musical theatre.
Ìý
After performing their songs and receiving feedback from Andrew Lloyd Webber and the expert panel of John Barrowman, Denise Van Outen and Barry Humphries, the Nancy's faced a nervous wait for viewers to cast their votes.
Ìý
On Francesca's performance John said: "I love watching you, I think you have that rough edge, you have that East End girl quality and from what I heard in here tonight I thought that was pretty damn good. Whether or not they hear it different in Vegas I don't know but in this studio it sounded pretty fantastic."
Ìý
Barry said: "Beautiful – everything you do is perfection really but you are a glamorous performer and I don't think you can loose that and to me that isn't really the essence of Nancy ... It's missing some kind of a wounded feeling that we get from Rachel."
Ìý
Denise said: "I totally disagree with Barry, sorry, I thought it was a strong edgy performance, it was edgier than the White Cliffs of Dover and I do love your voice, you've got a very unique throaty belt."
Ìý
Andrew Lloyd Webber said after the sing-off between Francesca and Ashley: "Both sang wonderfully, an extraordinary sing-off, and I have to decide between a fabulous professional actress and what the panel said about Ashley.
Ìý
"Tonight's was the toughest call I've ever ever had and I really do mean this. Ashley I'm thinking about it ... what the panel said. I'm gutted as you [Francesca] did it beautifully. I do feel you have a professional career ahead."
Ìý
Francesca and Ashley gained the least amount of votes, and had to sing a rendition of Whistle Down The Wind from Whistle Down The Wind in order to survive.
Ìý
Then it was up to Andrew Lloyd Webber alone to choose which Nancy should be saved for another week.
Ìý
On hearing the announcement Francesca said: "I feel gutted, but I have made so many fantastic friendships and every girl is wonderful. My favourite memory was getting into the final 12 at Andrew's house and also getting on stage at Wicked was fantastic."
Ìý
Safe for another week, with Ashley, were Jessie, Jodie, Niamh, Rachel, Samantha, Sarah and Keisha.
Ìý
The remaining hopefuls will go on to next week's show where they will again perform for the nation who will decide who should be Nancy in the new Cameron Mackintosh West End production of Oliver!
