The Dukes Of Hazzard reunited on The Graham Norton Show
|
The original cast of iconic US TV series The Dukes Of Hazzard – John
Schneider, Catherine Bach and Tom Wopat – are united for their first
joint appearance on British TV when they join Graham Norton on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Two tonight.
Ìý
The trio, who first joined forces 29 years ago and performed
together for the next seven, talk about the enduring appeal of the programme on The Graham Norton Show.
Ìý
Tom says: "All of us have struggled to escape the stereotype but people still love
it and we're grateful."
Ìý
And John says: "It seems to be all about everyone in the
family getting together, that's why we haven't shunned it at all. It's
so nice to be part of something that's important to the whole family."
Ìý
John reveals that their legions of fans sometimes get too close for
comfort.
Ìý
He says: "There are some fans who have claimed to have my child. When we
started I lied about my age (I said 24) and this woman sued me
as the father of her child. I thought 'my God' – because I knew her! –
but her son was 12, so that would have been impossible.'
Ìý
But John adds
that once he chose to get close to one of the fans, with unexpected
results.
Ìý
"Once I fell for one... I got a letter saying come and meet me,
so I went. This woman opened the door in a nightie and said 'oh, I
thought you were the dark-haired one! ... but come on in anyway!'"
Ìý
Graham is also joined by if.Comedy award-winner and hard-core Hazzards
fan Phil Nichol – "my love for them has moved me to music!" – performing
his special musical tribute Doing The Dukes live in the studio.
Ìý
Next week's line-up includes Alan Carr and Glenn Close.
