The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's search for musical talent comes to Nepal
|
³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Nepali is spearheading in Nepal the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's search for the global musical talent – The Next Big Thing 2007.
Ìý
With the contest, which is part of the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ World Service 75th anniversary programming, the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ is scouring the world looking for exciting new music, bands and performers.
Ìý
One act will be crowned The Next Big Thing 2007 and perform to an audience at a London venue to celebrate ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ World Service's 75th anniversary in December, alongside some of the most exciting names in music.
Ìý
Anyone can enter The Next Big Thing 2007, and it is completely free and unmediated.
Ìý
The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ has selected a panel of international music experts to help choose five finalists.
Ìý
There are just two rules: artists must be unsigned and perform their own original material; artists under the age of 18 will have to send in their entries with the permission of their parents.
Ìý
Presenter of the programme and Desk Editor of ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Nepali, Suman Kharel, said: "We are confident that Nepal has the musical talent which can compete for the world's attention.
Ìý
"We hope very much that by attracting our Nepali audiences to this competition, we'll be able to help reveal and add new names to Nepali music favourites.
Ìý
"And, who knows, the winner of The Next Big Thing could be a Nepali!"
Ìý
³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Nepali invites amateur artistes and bands to enter the contest via bbcworldservice.com/nextbigthing2007.
Ìý
They can also send CDs or DVDs of their music by mail to ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Nepali Service, Post Box 672, Kathmandu, Nepal.
Ìý
The top five Nepali songs selected by a jury of experts will be aired by ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Nepali to its audience of millions around the world.
Ìý
The songs also will be uploaded on bbcnepali.com.
Ìý
The best Nepal-based talent will be given an opportunity to present their song live from the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's Kathmandu studio.
