Radio Sheffield – Fabulous at 40
|
Listeners to ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Sheffield are being invited to come along and meet their favourite presenters at a special event to mark the station's 40th birthday.
Ìý
Toby Foster, Rony Robinson, Everard Davy, Howard Pressman and many more will all be at the Pennine Lecture Theatre in Sheffield Hallam University tomorrow, Tuesday 30 October, for An Evening With ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Sheffield.
Ìý
Listeners will also be able to meet some of their favourite former presenters and find out what they are now up to. And they will be able to put questions to staff past and present.
Ìý
Tickets for the audience event cost £5 and are available by phoning the Radio Sheffield Action Desk on 0114 267 5444 or by visiting bbc.co.uk/southyorkshire. All proceeds go towards the Radio Sheffield Good Neighbour Appeal for the victims of this summer's floods.

Managing Editor of Radio Sheffield Gary Keown said the audience event is part of a whole host of special activities being staged by the station to celebrate its milestone birthday on 15 November 2007.
Ìý
He said: "We were actually the second ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ local radio station to go on air on 15 November – hot on the heels of ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Leicester. Obviously there have been huge changes not only at the station itself but in every part of our listener's lives over the last 40 years and our programming over the 40 days leading up to our birthday will reflect that."
Ìý
Programmes across the output will include features on life beginning at 40, fashion at 40, lifestyle at 40, and will chronicle the past 40 years of South Yorkshire through the eyes of people aged 40 and over.
Ìý
Sports fans will also get a chance to put together their best fantasy football team from clubs on the Radio Sheffield patch over the last 40 years, and there will be a special edition of Praise Or Grumble, the football phone-in show.
Ìý
A section on the station's website – bbc.co.uk/southyorkshire – will be dedicated to the 40th birthday with features looking at past presenters and using archive audio, including the first words spoken on Radio Sheffield.
Ìý
The celebrations will culminate on Friday 16 November when Radio Sheffield will join Pudsey and ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Look North presenters in switching on the Christmas lights in Meadowhall, Sheffield.
