New presenter for Radio Merseyside's Breakfast Show
|
Tony Snell will be setting his alarm clock a few hours earlier when he takes over as ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Merseyside's new breakfast presenter.
Ìý
Tony takes to the air on Liverpool's 800th birthday – 28 August 2007.
Ìý
He joined Radio Merseyside in December 1997 and currently presents the weekday mid-morning programme.
Ìý
In the dim and distant past he has worked as a milkman and bricklayer but he eventually fulfilled his boyhood ambition of working in front of the microphone.
Ìý
From the end of August, Tony will present the Breakfast Show on weekdays from 6 to 10am.
Ìý
Tony says: "I'm very excited and a little scared when I think of the incredible broadcasters over the years who have presented the flagship Breakfast Show.
Ìý
"I feel very privileged and I keep thinking someone will suss me out soon and say, 'who let you in here?'
Ìý
"There is a great team here at the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ and the loyalty of the listeners never ceases to bowl me over.
Ìý
"I gave up Breakfast radio ten years ago to start a family. The kids are a bit older now so they don't wake up four times a night. Getting up at silly o'clock won't be a problem, in fact, it's the best time of the day."
Ìý
The search is now on for a new mid-morning programme to fill Tony Snell's show.
Ìý
Radio Merseyside's Acting Managing Editor, Phil Roberts, said: "Tony is one of Merseyside's best known broadcasters. His natural style and his sense of humour will provide the perfect start to the day. Tony has many ideas about how to bring our audience's stories alive on air and I can't wait for him to start!"
Ìý
Tony's current producer Claire Minter will also work on the Breakfast programme after the two developed a banter loved by the audience on his current show.
