Tim Lovejoy joins Radio Five Live

Tim Lovejoy is to join ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Five Live from the start of the new football season, it was announced today.

Lovejoy, who found fame on Sky's anarchic Soccer AM show, will present the iconic football phone-in 606, which, as well as being the biggest football phone-in show on radio, is host to the biggest online football community in the UK with the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's most visited messageboard at bbc.co.uk/606.

606 has also featured guest stars – including David Beckham last month who answered questions from listeners just before his England recall. During the World Cup in Germany, Prime Minister Tony Blair also answered listeners' questions.

Lovejoy's first 606 show will be on Wednesday 8 August 2007 and he will present the regular Wednesday evening show from then on through the season.

Radio Five Live Controller Bob Shennan said: "Tim has a natural understanding of and rapport with football fans and they respect him. He's a perfect signing for 606."

Five Live will feature commentary from the Premier League, Champions League, internationals, FA Cup, Uefa Cup and Coca Cola Cup for the 2007/8 season.
