Multi-talented Ceri takes up multi-platform challenge
|
成人快手 Wales has appointed multi-talented theatre and opera director and film
maker Ceri Sherlock as its first Commissioning Executive, Arts.
听
He joins from S4C where he was Commissioning Editor, Music. 听
He will executive produce 成人快手 Wales's English language television arts output
as well as helping to shape 成人快手 Wales's future strategy for multi-platform
arts coverage - encompassing television, radio and online.
听
成人快手 Wales's English language arts coverage has grown to encompass more than 20
specialist television documentaries per year for the arts strand On Show as
well as hours of coverage on both radio and television of events such as
Cardiff's International Festival of Musical Theatre, Swansea's Proms in the
Park, the Llangollen International Eisteddfod and the Faenol Festival in North
Wales as well as 成人快手 Cardiff Singer of the World.
听
Clare Hudson, 成人快手 Wales Head of English Language Programmes, said: "We're really looking forward to having Ceri on the team.

Ceri Sherlock said:

Originally from Llanelli, Ceri Sherlock was educated at Ysgol Dewi Sant,
Llandovery College, King's College, University of London and the University of
California, Los Angeles.
听
He began his diverse career in the arts in the early Eighties, directing
and working on operatic productions in venues from Ireland, Scotland and France
to Germany, Belgium and Canada.
听
He returned to Wales to join Theatr Cymru as
Associate Director and the Welsh National Opera as a staff producer, before an
award-winning spell as Artistic Director of the Actors Touring Company in
London.
听
His skills as a director - from classical Greek tragedy and major
choral works to modern musical theatre - continue to be in demand.
听
In 1993 he moved into film, writing and directing Dafydd - which was broadcast
on 成人快手 TWO - followed a year later by the award-winning short film Fallen Sons.
听
His television drama for S4C, Branwen, was judged Best Film at the 1995 Celtic
Film Festival and the feature film Cameleon won awards in the USA, Ireland and
Germany.
听
Aside from the performing arts, Ceri has produced and directed a number of
television documentaries and features - including the series Painting Flowers
and The Private Life of a Masterpiece for 成人快手 TWO.
听
He has held academic teaching positions in Wales and in Cambridge, and is
currently a visiting professor at the University of Glamorgan.
听
He was also
Expert Adviser on the arts to the National Assembly of Wales's review A
Culture in Common before joining S4C. 听
