Can I kick it? Virtually you can...
Jonny Wilkinson
watch out! The 成人快手's Big Screen in
Birmingham is offering budding rugby World Cup winners a unique
chance to test their rugby kicking skills in Chamberlain Square,
Birmingham.
听
Competitors will
get an opportunity to win tickets to an RBS Six Nations England
home game in 2007's tournament to boot.
听
Visitors to the 成人快手 Big Screen in Chamberlain Square on Wednesday 15 March -
between 11.00am and 5.00pm - have the possibility of taking part in the 成人快手's Virtual
Kick for a Ticket initiative.
听
Those who fancy their chances at kicking a
virtual rugby ball through virtual rugby goal-posts are invited to come
along and test out their skills for real.
听
Participants aim a kick
into thin air, as if they were kicking a real rugby ball, aiming
at goal-posts that appear on the 成人快手 Big Screen, and by virtue
of some fantastic technology, the movement of the ball matches
the force and direction of the kick.
听
The ball is then seen either
sailing successfully through the posts or flying wide of the
target, depending on the quality of the kick.
听
Scoring penalties
win the lucky kicker entry into a prize draw to win a pair of tickets
to an England home game in the Six Nations tournament.
听
During their kick, participants see themselves up on
the 成人快手 Big Screen superimposed onto a virtual rugby pitch, along
with any spectators nearby - just like the real thing!
听
There is no registration
and staff are on hand during the day to supervise the event. 听
Jenny
Jones, 成人快手 WM's roving reporter, is acting as compere for the
day, and is also reporting on the day's events into Danny Kelly's
afternoon show.
听
Geraldine McCullagh, Birmingham Big Screen Manager,
says: "The
whole day is going to be lots of fun for everyone who attends it,
whether that's rugby fans or passing shoppers!
听
"The software being
used is completely new - so anyone who shows up to
have a go is going to be the first in the country
to test this exciting new experience!"
听
The
software package in use for the event has been
developed for the Big Screens by Liverpool John Moores
University and is being used for the first time at
the 成人快手 Big Screen in Birmingham, before being rolled
out on the other Big Screens across the country.
