As the nation prepares to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of VE Day, 成人快手 West will be marking the occasion with a range of free events, special programmes and a website which aims to collect the biggest ever archive of personal war accounts.

成人快手 Radio Bristol will be inviting members of the public to take a trip back in time on Saturday 7 May.

A day of events at the Council House, College Green and City of Bristol College will give visitors an insight into life in the Forties and will bring back plenty of memories for those who lived through the war.

The Grand Ballroom of the Council House will be transformed into a VE Day tea room in the morning (10.00am-noon) with the Park Lane Big Band reliving Forties classics.

A Victory Tea Dance will be held in the afternoon (3.30-5.30pm) and admission is 拢2 for tea, cake and entertainment with the Manhattan Orchestra singers and dancers.

In the City of Bristol College visitors will be offered a real taste of the war. A NAAFI canteen will be serving up typical dishes and a cookery demonstration will offer tips on living on war rations and discussing the joys of powdered egg!

The 成人快手 People's War team will also be on hand to record memories of living through the Second World War.

The aim of their interactive project is to create a lasting legacy and resource to the nation and anyone can access the website at bbc.co.uk/ww2 to add their own personal account.

The street in front of central library will come alive with a giant pavement painting, fantastic bunting and children's activities.

Radio Bristol's Vicki Klein, who is organising the event, says: "I hope whole families will come along and enjoy the party. It's a way of becoming part of the city's history, and of passing on your war memories to the next generation."

成人快手 Points West and Radio Bristol will be broadcasting from the event throughout the day.

On Sunday 8 May 成人快手 Radio Bristol will be recreating some of Bristol's Fun Factory radio plays which were made in Bristol during the war.

Members of the public are invited to attend the live recordings at St George's (3.00 and 7.00pm) and tickets are 拢8 each with concessions at 拢7.

Vicki explains: "It is the first time since the war radio drama and comedy programmes from the 成人快手 have been broadcast live from a church hall. The whole cast finds it really exciting, if very nerve racking!

"Sixty years ago they produced these programmes live every day so we are merely repeating history. To re-create the famous programmes of the war years is a big responsibility, programmes like ITMA were an important part of everyone's life and its comedy and humour kept the nation smiling."
