The 成人快手 confirmed this evening that 成人快手 Producer, Kate Peyton, shot earlier today in Mogadishu, has died from her injuries.
听
Thirty-nine-year-old Kate Peyton had just arrived in Somalia with 成人快手 reporter Peter Greste to make a series of reports about the country.
听
It is believed the shooting occurred outside the Sahafi Hotel in Mogadishu and as yet no further details of the incident are available.
听
Peter Greste was unharmed.
听
Ms Peyton had undergone surgery for a bullet wound and it was later reported that she died from internal bleeding.
听
成人快手 Director of News Helen Boaden said: "Kate was one of our most experienced and respected foreign affairs producers who had worked all over Africa and all over the world.
听
"She will be greatly missed, both professionally and personally.
听
"Our thoughts are with her partner, Roger, his daughter, and Kate's mother, brother and sister.
听
"We are in touch with the family and are doing everything we can to support them at this terrible time."

成人快手 Director-General Mark Thompson said: "I am profoundly shocked and saddened by the news of Kate Peyton's death today.

"Kate had worked for the 成人快手 since 1993 and was dedicated to covering news across the African continent.
听
"All our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time."

Kate Peyton has worked for the 成人快手 as a producer and reporter since 1993.
听
She grew up in Suffolk and had been based in Africa for a number of years.
听
She has also worked as a producer and trainer for the South African Broadcasting Corporation in Johannesburg.
