As 成人快手 Television News celebrates its 50th anniversary, 成人快手 ONE's Ten O'Clock News looks to the future, announcing the launch of the UK's first interactive television news bulletin in Autumn 2004.

Ten O'Clock News Extra will be available on digital satellite, Freeview and digital cable platforms and will provide an added depth and context to the news.

From later this year - by pressing the red button on their handsets - viewers will be able to get behind the day's events, with longer interviews, extra footage and background information on the day's stories.

Ten O'Clock News Extra will provide a "tell me more" service, with profiles of the names in the news and instructive graphics in a new form of interactive TV journalism.

The content will be provided by the Ten O'Clock News team, and will be available Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 10.45pm.

Viewers will be able to access more information on up to three of the bulletin's stories.

Director of 成人快手 News, Richard Sambrook, says: "The 成人快手 News audience consistently tell us that they want even more information on the day's events.

"Ten O'Clock News Extra will provide that platform for added depth and context to the bulletin and will help drive a new audience towards our interactive services."

Head of 成人快手 News Interactive, Richard Deverell, says: "This is a hugely exciting innovation for 成人快手 News.

"It is the world's first interactive daily TV news bulletin and will help viewers understand the top news stories by providing extra background information in a visually rich and engaging format."

The 成人快手 has commissioned interactive TV specialists Two-Way TV to provide the application technology.

Two-Way TV have worked closely with all the major television broadcasters in the UK and have a wide knowledge of television audiences and what they want from an interactive application.

Emma Somerville, Head of 成人快手 Interactive Programming, says: "We are delighted to be working with Two-Way TV on such a flagship application. Two-Way TV are adept at dealing with technological advances and will bring an added dimension to the project."

成人快手 Television News is 50 years old today, Monday 5 July 2004, at 7.30 pm.
