Rugby – Six Nations


The jewel in the crown of northern hemisphere rugby, the Six Nations, continues exclusively for the second year on the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ.


The competition kicks off on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ ONE with France v Ireland and Wales v Scotland on 14 February, and ends on 27 March.


Steve Rider and John Inverdale front the programmes with commentary from Eddie Butler, Nick Mullins, Brian Moore and Philip Matthews. Jonathan Davies and Jeremy Guscott provide analysis in the studio.

The best international rugby competition also features on ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio Five Live and ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Radio 4 LW, giving rugby fans the widest choice of games possible. (CI)


Rugby – Powergen Cup


Coverage of the National Cup hots up with the quarter finals on 28 February and the semi finals on 13 March.


Rugby's equivalent of the FA Cup showcases all the Premiership teams and is an exciting domestic competition to complement the Six Nations' international games. (CI)


The Boat Race


The year 2004 sees the 150th anniversary of the Boat Race, first contested between the universities of Oxford and Cambridge in 1829.


Steve Rider presents live coverage of this historic race on Sunday 28 March. (JM)


Celebrity Boat Race


In Celebrity Boat Race, an event to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race, Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent train two teams of ex-Oxford and Cambridge University students to compete against each other in the ultimate challenge.


In a test of fitness, stamina and determination, Celebrity Boat Race follows the two teams as they are put through their paces. (JM)


FA Cup


Match Of The Day returns with live coverage of the FA Cup – the most famous domestic football trophy in the world – from the fiercely contested first rounds until the eagerly anticipated final in May.


The advent of the third round in early January sees Premiership teams entering the equation. At this stage of the competition, there is always the potential for one of the top teams to be knocked out by a lower-league 'giant killer'.


Gary Lineker presents all the action, with expert analysis and insight from the top team of Alan Hansen, Trevor Brooking and Mark Lawrenson. Commentators include John Motson, Barry Davies and Steve Wilson.


Football Focus continues throughout the season with pre-match team news, half-time summaries and goal flashes during the afternoon, before Final Score delivers the verdicts on all the afternoon games in England and Scotland. (LF)


Athletics


With the indoor athletics season in full swing during the winter months, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Sport has coverage of the Norwich Union International Match (25 January), the Norwich Union Indoor Trials (8 February) and the Norwich Union Indoor Grand Prix (20 February).


Action from Europe's indoor circuit also features, including coverage of the European Indoor Cup (14 February), and the IAAF World Indoor Championships and the World Cross Country in March.


World record holders Colin Jackson and Jonathan Edwards have joined the ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's winning athletics presentation and commentary line-up of Roger Black, Steve Cram, Sally Gunnell, Brendan Foster, Paul Dickenson and Stuart Storey.


On Sunday 13 April, ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ ONE has extensive live coverage of the world's most prestigious road-running event, the Flora London Marathon.


More than 35,000 runners can be seen pounding the 26.2 mile course through the streets of London.


³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Sport – across TV, radio and online – will be there for every stride to capture all the fun, excitement and spectacle that make the London Marathon unique. (CF)

³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Television has full live coverage of the last 18 holes on the final day's play of The Masters, the world's most prestigious overseas golf tournament, from Augusta, Georgia. (CF)


The Grand National


Sue Barker and Clare Balding present ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Sport's live coverage of the 2004 Grand National on Saturday 3 April.


The 157th running of the world's most famous steeplechase is the climax of three days of top-quality racing from the renowned Aintree racecourse. (JM)


Tennis – Australian Open


The first Grand Slam event of the year is presented by Sue Barker as the Australian Open serves up more top-class tennis from Melbourne from 19 January-1 February.


The ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ's commentary team of John Lloyd, Pat Cash and John Barrett follow the competition and rivalries on and off the courts.


Grandstand will show action from both weekends of the tournament. (CI)
