NORTHERN IRELAND

Give My Head Peace goes south

成人快手 Northern Ireland celebrates a landmark in its history with the screening of the 50th episode of the hit sitcom Give My Head Peace on Friday 27 December 2002.

The Give My Head Peace gang in Dublin

In Secondary Colours, Da (Tim McGarry) and Cal (Damon Quinn) get a free trip to Dublin, courtesy of Sinn Fein.

Da has been chosen to be the election agent for a Dublin Sinn Feiner, Deso Burke (Joe Savino).

As Billy says: "Does the fella not want to win?"

Da believes he has special expertise and advises Deso from Dublin North East Central to campaign on the slogan "Vote Sinn Fein or the Prod will get in!"

Deso points out sectarianism isn't really an issue in Dublin. And it isn't - until Uncle Andy (Martin Reid) and Mervyn (BJ Hogg) arrive in the Irish capital.

They are on a quest to find all the Protestants who used to live in the South but, according to Uncle Andy, have now gone missing.

He is convinced they are all under the floorboards or hiding out in attics.

Meanwhile Da and Cal get waylaid and forget to lodge Deso's nomination papers. Is another Republican split looming?

Filmed on location in Dublin, Northern Ireland's most dysfunctional TV family caused quite a stir when visiting some of the best known sites in the Irish capital, stopping the traffic along the banks of the Liffey.

Pedestrians came to halt over the Ha'penny Bridge, outside the GPO and during filming in Grafton Street, as well as outside the Four Courts and at Dail Eireann.

Damon Quinn, series producer, actor and co-writer said: "We got a great reception when we took Dublin by storm!

"It was amazing how many people recognised us and came up to say hello and have a bit of a chat. People called to us from cars and open-top buses as they went by.

"We had a brilliant time making this programme which really is a landmark for us, it's hard to believe 成人快手 Northern Ireland has let us get away with 50 episodes!"

Give My Head Peace, which is now in its eighth series, is on Friday 27 December on 成人快手 ONE Northern Ireland at 9.30pm, preceded by the screening of Two Ceasefires and a Wedding at 9.00pm, the programme which led to the commissioning of the hit series.

The Give My Head Peace website will have a guest book inviting surfers to send goodwill messages to the programme and its cast. The site can be accessed at: .
