high

History Magazine unveils its redesign in its November issue (on
sale 7 October), as the magazine - Britain聮s best-selling history
monthly - builds on its recent circulation record.
The
magazine has introduced new typography and other design features,
timed to coincide with its annual 聭Books of the Year聮
supplement and the beginning of the academic year, when new student
readers enter the market. News coverage has been increased, listings
coverage expanded and new features introduced.
聭It聮s
more a radical evolution rather than a revolution, in keeping with
our style,聮 said magazine Editor, Greg Neale.
Design
consultant Laura Hall has introduced a new headline face - Interstate
- and restyled news, features and listings. Her brief was to enhance
the magazine聮s 聭modern classic聮 design, making news
and features more accessible to readers. At the same time, Neale
has introduced some new features, strengthening the magazine聮s
聭history and current affairs聮 feel. The November cover
- featuring a Second World War poster of a woman worker - reflects
the changes, as well as the magazine聮s 46 per cent female readership.

History Magazine recently celebrated its highest-ever ABC figures
- 53,154 - and a 16 per cent year on year subscriptions increase.
International sales are up 19 per cent. Last November, Neale was
named Editor of the Year in the general interest and current affairs
category of the British Society of Magazine Editors聮 awards
- the magazine聮s second BSME success in three years.
Says
Neale: 聯It聮s just over three years since we launched,
and time to build on our success. We decided to refresh the magazine
visually both to enhance our appeal to our existing readers - be
they committed historians, generalists or simply those wanting an
informative and entertaining read - and to appeal to potential new
readers.聮
聭We
believe that we聮ve created the most visually dynamic history
magazine available, and we聮ve retained our cutting-edge stories
from some of the world聮s leading historians which have helped
to put 成人快手 History Magazine firmly on the map. The new design gives
us longer reads, enhanced use of pictures and some new columns and
regular features.聰 The magazine聮s editorial advisory panel
includes well-known historians and broadcasters such as Simon Schama,
Michael Wood, Julian Richards (from 成人快手 TV聮s Meet the Ancestors)
and Mick Aston, known for his appearances on the Channel 4 archaeology
series, Time Team.
