The
Thame & County Show, the country's largest one-day agricultural
show, is coming to Thame on Thursday September 18.
About
20,000 people take in the show and see the amazing competitions,

What
happens at the Thame Show
The
Thame Show has competition classes for horses, dogs, birds, rabbits,
showjumping and a craft marquee where exhibitors demonstrate their
handiwork.
You
must make time to see the amazing flying gunners, a motorcycle display
team who fly through flames in the air.
In
the events arena there will be terrier and ferret racing and don't
forget the Adams axemen who race each other chopping timber poles.
History
of the Thame Show
The
first official Thame Show was held in October 1888. But, the origins
of the show started 30 years before, when a ploughing match was
held. A large crowd turned up at the time to see the 26 teams. After
the match, there was a public dinner in the afternoon at the Spread
Eagle Hotel.
Following
the success of the ploughing match, it was decided to combine the
Ploughing Match of Thame and the Horticultural Society Show to be
known as 'The Thame Agricultural & Horticultural Society'.
