Around the bright camp fire
The Hobo鈥檚 whisper low
Just one topic of discussion
Shall we stay or shall we go?
听
Some have made their mind up
And gather near the freight
The Hobo鈥檚 run, like lemmings
Hopping to another state.

鈥淎re you sure it鈥檚 true?鈥 an old
man said
Drinking coffee from a mug
His adam鈥檚 apple bobbed in fear
As he took another slug.
听
鈥淏ack in the 30s鈥 the old man said

Pete
Biting at his dirty nails
鈥淏oys, I ain鈥檛 a staying here
I鈥檓 heading for the rails鈥
听
鈥淣ow, hold on guys鈥 said one eyed Joe
鈥淟et鈥檚 talk the whole thing out鈥
鈥淚 aint a staying鈥 yelled weasel Pete
鈥淏oys I鈥檓 a getting out.鈥
听
Panic spread like wild-fire
The Hobo鈥檚 up and fled
鈥淚鈥檓 staying boys鈥 said one eyed Joe
And lay back on his bed.
听
鈥淒on鈥檛 be a fool鈥 the old man
said
鈥淒on鈥檛 be a stupid Bo
Get your pack upon your back
Come on, it鈥檚 time to go.鈥
听
The Hobos headed for the trains
Yep, every single one.
They didn鈥檛 want to meet the man
Called Gerry Ander-son.
I hear the train a coming. Coming round the bend. I aint seen
