We're only a month into 2024, and the UK has already seen some big storms and snowy weather - but could there be more extreme weather to come?

Storm Ingunn swept through Norway past the north of the UK on Wednesday, bringing gusts of winds close to 80mph in Shetland.

It was even windier in the Faroe Islands, recording gusts of 124mph, with lots of snow now piling into western Norway.

But does this mean the UK could also see snow?

成人快手 Weather has said it's actually unlikely the UK will see snow as a result of the storm, and in fact it's expected to be incredibly mild over the next few days.

Forecasters have said that the UK will be rather cloudy all the way into next week, but late next week there are signs that colder weather will make a return to the UK - so you'll probably need to get your big coat back on!

There have been yellow weather warnings for wind in many parts of the UK earlier this week - with train services cancelled in Scotland on Wednesday

Widespread frosts will return to the mornings and temperatures in the countryside could drop well below freezing, maybe even as low -10 Celsius for some next weekend.

If you are hoping for snow, there is a much greater chance that some of you could see some late next week and possibly next weekend.

At the moment, computer weather models are hinting that the greatest chance for seeing a covering of white could be in parts of northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, but it won't be everywhere.

Things could also change between now and then so stay tuned to the forecast as it's not possible to forecast exact snow amounts and locations too far in advance.
