It was a great result for Liverpool last night, with the team securing a 5-2 win over Roma in the first leg of the semi-final.

The reds were leading 5-0 for most of the game, with two goals from Salah, two from Firmino and one from Mane.

But two late Roma goals have given the Italian side a glimmer of hope for the second leg next Wednesday.

Liverpool are the only English team left in the competition, and if they can go on to take the title it'd be huge for the club and its fans.

But even if they don't manage to go all the way, the team have already set some Champions League records...

Most successful English side

The 2005 title was called the Miracle of Istanbul, after Liverpool won 3-2 on penalties over AC Milan.

With five titles Liverpool have already won the Champions League more than any other English team (1977, 1978, 1981, 1984, 2005).

Man United have won three, Nottingham Forest two, and Aston Villa and Chelsea one each.

With their five wins, the Reds are currently joint third (along with Bayern Munich and Barcelona) when it comes to the overall number of Champions League wins.

If they could take the title this time, it'd put them higher up the leader board, and just one title behind current the second most successful team AC Milan.

Although they still have a way to go if they want to compete with Real Madrid who have a record 12 Champions League wins!

This 5-2 first-leg result equals the record for the most goals of any Champions League semi-final match.

The only other semi-final game to have seven goals was Ajax's 5-2 win over Bayern Munich in 1995.

Liverpool are the first side in Champions League history to have three players score eight or more goals in a single season in the competition.

So who are the golden trio?

Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino have both scored 10 goals - the most ever by Liverpool players in a single season in European competition.

Sadio Man茅 has scored 8.

And that's not all. Milner has also set a new record - for assisting goals. He's provided nine in the Champions League this season (including qualifiers).
