Call for Guernsey charities to join forces

  • Published

Guernsey charities which have similar aims should be working together, Jurat Stephen Jones has said.

Speaking at the Institute of Directors' debate he said by working collectively their impact would be more effective.

Jurat Jones, who has been involved with the island's Cheshire ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ charity for 20 years, said he felt 364 charities was too many for a small island.

He said: "It doesn't mean you have to lose your own independence as a charity but just come together."

Jurat Jones said: "Those that have formed the Guernsey Disability Alliance work with government and they're charities of a like mind.

"They manage to speak pretty much with a single voice, which makes it so much easier to get their message across."
