A Carmarthenshire town's police station is to close, the Dyfed-Powys police and crime commissioner has confirmed.

Christopher Salmon said he hoped the St Clears building would be sold, as operations are moved six miles (10km) away to a re-opened station at Whitland.

Mr Salmon insisted that policing levels in St Clears would remain the same.

Some residents have criticised the move, saying it will open up the town to more crime.
