A Cardiff man was killed in a motorbike crash in Belgium while heading to France to search for a new house, an inquest has heard.

Nigel Hinton, 53, had been planning to renovate a holiday home with his fiancee.

But he was killed in the crash with a Land Rover in June 2014.

Coroner Andrew Barkley recorded a conclusion of death by multiple injuries due to a road traffic collision.

The inquest in Cardiff heard that Mr Hinton, a father-of-two from Whitchurch, was one of five motorcyclists driving together through the Belgian countryside.

Mr Hinton became trapped underneath the Land Rover following the collision between the bikers and the car.

Post mortem examination results revealed he died of multiple traumatic injuries.

His sister Lorna Hinton said he was "well-loved", adding: "He was looking for a place in France that he and Isabelle could buy and do up together.

"They had a place in Monaco but Nigel really enjoyed building and wanted to find somewhere in France that he could work on as a project."
