The leader of Cardiff council's Liberal Democrat group is resigning from the post and is to stand down from the authority at the May election.
Judith Woodman said she had decided to take a step back to develop her business interests and charity work.
The Pentwyn and Llanedeyrn councillor served as Cardiff council's deputy leader between 2004 and 2012.
The Lib Dem group, which has been in opposition since 2012, will meet on Wednesday to elect a new leader.
