A Wrexham man found dead in his home earlier this month had suffered severe head injuries, an inquest has heard.
Antony Gerald Derwent, 52, was discovered at the top of the stairs at a house in Wheat Close, Gwersyllt, at about 05:30 BST on 7 April.
The cause of death was given as airway obstruction caused by the inhalation of blood resulting from blunt force trauma.
Last week Matthew Hardy, 36, appeared at Mold Crown Court accused of murder.
Also of Wheat Close, he will be remanded in custody until his next appearance on 21 June.
At the brief hearing in Ruthin, John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, said criminal proceedings were currently ongoing in the case.
As a result he added that no date would yet be set for the inquest into Mr Derwent's death to continue.
