Police have warned revellers that for safety reasons some may be turned away from Swansea's best known night-time party street.

Barriers may be put up on Wind Street to limit numbers this Saturday - the nearest to Halloween and the night of the Rugby World Cup final.

It is one of a number of measures South Wales Police say could be introduced.

It follows the one of the busiest nights of the year on the street during last year's Halloween.

Venues will be open as usual but police said there could be controls on entry into Wind Street, or a queueing system.

This would be separate to the plans and queuing systems put in place by each of the venues on the street.

Ch Insp James Ratti said there would be a "multi-agency command room" monitoring crowds on Wind Street on Saturday.

It will decide whether to put crowd control barriers at the entrances to the street if they were needed.

"These barriers are the waist-height type of barrier that many would associate with queuing at venues," he said.

"They will enable ourselves and our partners to make sure that the footfall is kept to a manageable level that ensures the safety of everyone present is not jeopardised."

Police advised people to get there early to avoid any queues.
