Caerphilly: Boy, 13, injured after being hit by gritting lorry
A 13-year-old boy has suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a gritting lorry.
Gwent Police said the incident happened at about 08:20 GMT on Thursday at Lansbury Park Distributor Road in Caerphilly.
The driver, a 36-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention.
He was later released on police bail while inquiries continue.
The leader of Caerphilly council wished the boy a "swift and full recovery".
The boy was taken to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff via road ambulance.
'Never again'
Cabinet member for social care at Caerphilly Council, Elaine Forehead said: "My thoughts go out to the young man and his family.
"I've had concerns about the safety of that road ever since I've been a councillor and I spent much of yesterday talking with highways to look at any actions we could take to make sure something like this never happens again."
