Super Furry Animals front man Gruff Rhys, Badly Drawn Boy and Echo and the Bunnymen are to headline a music festival in Gwynedd.

Gwyl Gardd Goll (the Lost Forest Festival) is to be held at Bangor's Faenol estate between 22 and 24 July.

It is the first time the event has attracted such high profile names, and as a result up to 5,000 people are expected.

The festival has also grown from a one-day to a three-day festival.

Organiser Dilwyn Llwyd said he had received a grant to help expand the event.

"The festival was originally played by just Welsh bands, but it wasn't exclusively for Welsh bands," he said.

"The well known acts won't change things much, but this year's festival will be different."

Mr Llwyd, who plays in a band, said Gwyl Gardd Goll grew out of an idea for a small gig with his friends, but attracted a lot of interest and became a festival.

"The idea of Gwyl Gardd Goll is to show off Y Faenol in all its glory," he added.

"If you get a band in the right environment it can sound amazing.
