A man has been taken to hospital after a shot was fired at a house in Stirling.

The 38-year-old suffered minor injuries in the incident on Randolph Crescent in the Whins of Milton area at about 20:00 on Monday.

Images from the scene show what appears to be a bullet hole in glass panel of the property's front door.

Police said inquiries into the incident were under way but the investigation was at an early stage.

The man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment but has since been discharged.

A police presence remains at the house where a section of the street has been taped off.

'Massive bang'

One eyewitness described a scene of "carnage" as emergency crews rushed to the scene.

They added that armed police had responded to the incident after a vehicle had sped off following a "massive bang".

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed they had received reports of a "firearm being discharged" in the area.

They said: "Inquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the incident."
