Car driver dies after crash with pick-up truck on A9 near Aviemore

A 60-year-old man has died following a crash on the A9 near Aviemore last week.

Roy Bannerman was driving a Skoda Octavia which collided with a Toyota Hilux pick-up near Lynwilg at about 13:45 on Tuesday 5 March.

Mr Bannerman, from Evanton, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he died on Friday.

The 18-year-old male driver of the Toyota was treated at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and later released.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the vehicles before the crash to

Sgt Calum MacAulay said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Bannerman who have requested privacy at this difficult time. We will continue to offer them support as our investigations progress.

"I'd like to thank everyone who has come forward with information so far. Any piece of information, no matter how small, may be vital to our investigation."
