Man who died after being found in Renfrew street is named

A man who died after being found unresponsive on a street in Renfrew has been named by police.

He was 27-year-old Andrew Lees.

Officers were called to Newmains Road in the town at about 02:30 on Sunday 5 November. Emergency services took Mr Lees to hospital where he died a short time later.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with his death and is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday.

Det Insp Nicky Beattie, of Paisley CID, said: "Our thoughts are very much with Andrew's family and we are providing them with support at what is a very difficult time for them. They have asked for their privacy to be respected."

Mr Lees's family released a statement via Police Scotland in which they said: "Andrew was a much loved son who will be sorely missed every day by all who knew him."
