A prisoner who had been on the run while serving a jail sentence for killing a woman police constable in Londonderry has been arrested.
Shane Frane, 36, was unlawfully at large after breaching the conditions of a temporary release from jail two weeks ago.
He was detained in the Republic on Thursday and has appeared in court for extradition.
In 2014 Frane was jailed for the manslaughter of Philippa Reynolds, 27.
She died in 2013 when the stolen car he was driving crashed into her police vehicle.
Frane, originally from Limerick, was sentenced to a minimum of six years imprisonment.
In a statement, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said: "This case demonstrates the close working of the PSNI and the Public Prosecution Service to pursue fugitives from this jurisdiction.
"It also highlights our close working with An Garda S铆och谩na (Irish police) extradition unit in tracking down wanted persons and bringing offenders to justice.
"Our message is clear to anyone who has left Northern Ireland to avoid the consequences of their actions.
"We will use all powers available to have you arrested and returned to Northern Ireland."
