A man arrested in County Antrim on suspicion of selling counterfeit goods has been released on bail.

It followed the seizure of clothing, footwear and electrical equipment which police say represented a potential loss of £130,000 to the brands concerned.

The 36-year-old had been detained in Glenavy on Sunday.

Det Sgt Mason said: "It is easy to see the buying of fake goods as a harmless and victimless crime but this couldn't be further from the truth."

"While it may seem a bargain to buy a designer coat for £40 instead of over £100, people need to think of the consequences," the officer continued.

They added that profits from counterfeit goods can help fund criminal activity and impacts the economy with a loss of millions of pounds of revenue each year.
