One person has been injured after a film set marquee was ripped off in high winds on the north coast in Northern Ireland.

It happened on the set of the hit tv series Game of Thrones which is being shot close to Carrick-a-rede bridge.

In the strong winds caused by the tail end of Hurricane Katia, the tent was blown apart with people trapped inside.

"It was very sudden and there was mass panic," one of those working on the production said.

"People had to crouch under tables to protect themselves. They thought they were going to die.

"The structure just wasn't able to withstand the strong winds."

The worker said that production had been called off for the day, but everyone was moved to the catering tent to eat. Then it collapsed.

It's understood one person was taken to hospital for back injuries.

The epic fantasy adventure is a dramatisation of the second book of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series of novels by George RR Martin.

The first series, recently on Sky Atlantic, showed two worlds, the dark north, filmed in Northern Ireland, and the sunny south, filmed in Malta.

The first series starred Sean Bean and Mark Addy. Stars returning to Belfast to film the next series include Charles Dance, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Alfie Allen and Coleraine actress Michelle Fairley who plays Catelyn Stark.
