The Olympic torch will pass several key landmarks when it heads through East and West Sussex, including Arundel Castle and Brighton's Royal Pavilion.

London 2012 organisers have revealed the exact route it will take as it makes its way to the Olympic Stadium.

One of the torchbearers in East Sussex will be the former daredevil stuntman Eddie Kidd, who suffered serious brain injuries following a crash in 1996.

"I'm doing it to show other people that anything is possible," he said.

Last year, Mr Kidd completed the London Marathon, taking 50 days and using a specially adapted frame.

Speaking through his wife Sami, he said he was very proud to have been chosen as a torchbearer.

"It's the biggest thing I've done since jumping the Great Wall of China."

The torch will enter West Sussex in Rogate at 09:08 BST on Monday 16 July - day 59 of the Olympic Torch Relay.

It will then travel to Brighton and Hove via Chichester, Bognor and Arundel.

The day will end with an evening celebration on Brighton seafront, which up to 20,000 people are expected to attend.

The event will be free and feature music, dance and cultural performances.

The flame will leave the city from the Pavilion Gardens at 07:20 BST on Tuesday 17 July and head to Hastings via Crawley, Tunbridge Wells in Kent, Lewes, Eastbourne, and Bexhill.

Another evening celebration will take place at The Stade Open Space, in Hastings Old Town, before the flame heads to Battle Abbey the next morning, on Wednesday 18 July,

The torch will then go on to the funicular railway in Hastings Old Town, arriving at 08:17 BST, before travelling on to Rye and then into Kent.

By the time the flame arrives at the Olympic Stadium on 27 July, it will have travelled about 8,000 miles across the UK over 70 days, helped by 8,000 torchbearers.
