Two councils in Norfolk to combine IT services

  • Published

Two councils in Norfolk are hoping to save more than £1m by combining their information and communication technology (ICT) departments.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council has joined Norfolk County Council to make the savings over five years.

Great Yarmouth's ICT will managed by the county council. Current borough council staff will become part of the county's team.

Barry Stone, the borough council's deputy leader, welcomed the move.

"Sharing the county council's networks and technology, and the pooling of expertise of staff from both councils, will make the borough council more resilient.

"The savings identified as part of this arrangement will be reinvested into improving the way the borough council uses IT."
