Plans for a new £2m youth hub in Halton have been revealed.

The scheme in Runcorn will offer film nights, cookery sessions, gaming events and other activities.

The hub, on High Street, will be known as Youthy.com and will be a "safe and engaging space" where young people "can build relationships and create the sense of community", organisers said.

The scheme is part of the Reconnecting Runcorn project funded by a £23.6m government town deal grant.

Power in Partnership (PIP), the organisation behind the scheme, said there will also be opportunities for young people to develop a "connection with nature" and learn how to grow their own vegetables through a project called Veg Heads.

PIP already runs a scheme for 80 young people at the Grangeway Centre in Runcorn.

Youthy.com will allow it to double the number of young people it serves in the town.

Planning permission was granted, subject to conditions, last August.
