In pictures: Manchester after an apocalypse
An exhibition of imagined post-apocalyptic visions of well-known locations in Manchester has gone on display in the city.
Manchester Apocalypse is artist James Chadderton's vision of the city as a "human devoid wasteland where the buildings have been left to decay".
The artist said the "aim was to create a series of images that depicted Manchester evacuated, eroded and derelict, as if left to degrade for years - I didn't want to focus on a single event that caused it, just the aftermath".
He said he was inspired by "the visuals and themes of post apocalyptic films, books and games. The quality of films like 28 Days Later, The Road, Children of Men and games such as Metro 2033, S.T.A.L.K.E.R and the Fallout series has given me a huge amount of inspiration for creating work".
Manchester Apocalypse is at the Incognito Gallery in Stevenson Square in the city's Northern Quarter until Wednesday 4 January 2012.
