Ex-Tetley brewery site on Leeds' South Bank goes for sale
The site of the former Tetley Brewery in Leeds has been put up for sale by the owners, Carlsberg UK, the company has confirmed.
The site on the city's South Bank is being marketed for an undisclosed sum, but Carlsberg said it "recognised the potential of the site".
The closure of the brewery in 2011, which had been on the same site since 1822, resulted in the loss of 170 jobs.
Carlsberg said it hoped to have a successful sale before the end of 2015.
In a statement the company said: "Around 100 of our employees remained working in office-based roles on the site and the team has increased in size to over 150 in subsequent years.
"Five years on, we have commenced a process to select a purchaser for the site who will be able to take forward the site's redevelopment.
"We will be taking care to select a purchaser who will respect the site's heritage and be proactive in bringing forward a successful, high-quality development."
