East Coast Wave Riders organised the beach clean-up as part of Surfers Against Sewage's beach "spring cleans"

A clean-up is planned for the East Yorkshire beach where a grey seal pup was found snared in plastic fishing nets on Friday.

East Coast Wave Riders surf club organised the event, starting at 17:00 BST, as part of nationwide "beach spring cleans" scheme.

The seal was found on Withernsea Beach with fishing line around her neck.

Another beach clean has taken place at Spurn Point National Nature Reserve, 17 miles from Withernsea.

More than 3,000 volunteers cleared more than 35 tonnes of rubbish from 135 UK beaches, in environmental charity Surfers Against Sewage's 2014 beach clean-ups.
