Bournemouth: Brand New Heavies to play gig in memory of fan's mum

A music fan has persuaded The Brand New Heavies to play a fundraising gig in memory of his mum.
Steve Heald, from Ferndown, Dorset, made the cheeky request after meeting the eight-piece acid jazz and funk band after a gig.
He said: "I was really taken aback, but delighted they agreed."
The concert in memory of Thelma Heald is being held on 10 August at Bournemouth Pavilion to raise money for the UK Dementia Research Institute.

Ms Heald passed away in 2022. Her son said: "I love music and when my mum died I decided to do something.
"Hopefully we can sell out and raise as much as possible for the dementia charity."
Local businesses in Ferndown have helped Mr Heald - who does not use computers or emails - organise the concert with the group who had a string of hits in the 1990s.
The band are set to perform Midnight at the Oasis, Sometimes, Dream Come True, Never Stop, Back to Love and Stay This Way.
